My name is Calvern and I am the recruitment team lead for Accountancy & Finance at Adecco; I am also humbled to be the ambassador for Win4Youth (W4Y) Singapore.
Written by Calvern Tan, Win4Youth Ambassador, 2022.
My story started with my passion.
What spurred me to join as a W4Y ambassador was my passion and strong belief in their values. I grew in Adecco, seeing and believing W4Y’s great impact on one’s mental and physical wellbeing. At that moment, I thought to myself, “What a great opportunity it is to be an ambassador of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, where I get to give back to the society by helping those in need, simply through exercising!”
There were challenges to overcome.
Although I disliked running and was a non-swimmer initially, I owed to the belief of trusting the purpose-led programme as first step. I believe nothing can’t be achieved if I set my mind right. Without hesitation, I got out of my comfort zone and took up the challenge by conquering my doubts, which led me to positively influence the people around me.
This purposeful journey transformed my life.
Through my participation, I have undergone different trainings, picked up swimming (definitely not an easy feat), and organised W4Y activities for my colleagues regularly. This initiative has largely impacted my life and shaped me into a better person. It has improved my social skills as I was actively engaged with colleagues; motivating them to participate in activities and promoting the purpose of the programme. I have also become more alert and energetic following a regular exercise routine. Through this, I am constantly cultivating a positive mindset in both my professional and personal life.
I am grateful to be part of the W4Y programme and Adecco – a company that cares for its people and society at large. It’s my honour to continue touching lives as a Adecco W4Y ambassador in 2022.
